Just a few weeks back, Smirnoff, the world’s number one vodka, together with Madonna and millions of international revelers spanning five continents, celebrated The Smirnoff Nightlife Exchange Project.

Over 2,500 guests attended the Italian-themed event in Melbourne where the crowd enjoyed performances from Junior Jack & Kid Créme and Alex Gaudino, who flew over from Italy to headline the event. Also some of Australia’s best home-grown talent, Anna Lunoe, Stevie Mink, Rachel Andrews, Eli VS Safari DJs, F.R.I.E.N.D’s DJs, Smart Alec, Peach Lovely, and Airwolf all performed live.

The Australian edition kicked off the worldwide celebration as the first of the Smirnoff Nightlife Exchange Project events to be held globally. The Italian theme ran throughout the evening, and was brought to life with a modernised version of Giuseppe Verdi’s opera, renamed “Una Discoteca in Maschera”. The warehouse space contained several different zones, constructed especially for the event. Each room represented a different element of Italian nightlife – offering Australian fans a chance to “travel” from historical Rome, to an 80s disco in the Alps, to the fashionable catwalks of Milan, in just one night! But the real ‘Be There’ moment of the night was at midnight when superstar DJ Alex Gaudino spun his version of the Nessun Dorma. Guests celebrated the final moments of the evening wearing silver masks, surrounded by aerial performers and dancers wearing Venetian masquerade costumes, and watching fireworks fall from the stage!

Traversing time zones, borders and language barriers, the Smirnoff Nightlife Exchange Project saw countries worldwide create one-of-a-kind global events that encouraged the sharing and swapping of the most extraordinary nightlife ideas. Events across the world featured a diverse line-up of superstar talent including Kelis, CSS, Basement Jaxx, Janelle Monáe and more - collectively performing 200 hours of music.

So for more of the best artists from around the world make sure you are at this year’s Summadayze and Future Music Festivals.
