‘Your boarding pass to chill’ has arrived with Ministry of Sound’s thirteenth Chillout Sessions compilation released just in time for these first rainy days of summer. The double-cd package includes the usual fusion of down-tempo acoustic to electronicia. The album opens with coolness of a summer evening, inviting nostalgia with the dreamy voice of Megan Washington followed by the instantly recognisable rusty baritone of Angus Stone. The rest of the disk follows with Splendour in the Grass signature track A Community Service Announcement from Jonathon Boulet, Deadbeat Summer from Neon Indian and perhaps his best track yet - Big Boi’s Turns Me On.
Disc II reflects the more buoyant side of the season featuring tracks from The Chemical Brothers and Groove Armada as well as remixes of Little Red’s Rock it, Florence’s Rabbitheart and of course Mark Ronson’s reggae remix of Miike Snow’s Animal. Highlights include c90’s remix of everyone’s favourite Flight Facilities Crave You feat. Sydney-sider Giselle Rosselli. Though forecasted to be the wettest summer Sydney’s ever seen there is still plenty of reason to celebrate to Miami Horror's Holidays.
Everyone to celebrate that is but Ministry of Sound themselves. The world famous nightclub and label have been forced to suspend their case against thousands of illegal downloader’s after Internet service provider BT deleted 80% of the data requested by the record industry lawyers. BT claims that this was in accordance with their data retention policy with all information in the system over 90 days old being automatically deleted from the system. However Ministry of Sound CEO Lohan Presencer says they will continue with their campaign against music piracy: “We are more determined than ever to go after Internet users who illegally upload our copyrighted material. We will be making further applications for information from all ISPs. Every time that a track or album is uploaded to the web it is depriving artists of royalties and reducing the money which we can invest in new British talent.” Probably best not too share this one around too much.
