ROGER SHAH [Magic Island / Armada]
On stage, clad in his trademark white, he is impossible to miss. Wireless keyboard in one hand, an ever-ready clutch of his own productions in the other, his live crowd-interacting performances have brought an entirely new experience for club and festival goers worldwide. In 2010 this unequalled approach was reflected in DJ Magazine`s Top 100 chart, when he re-entered its top 50 for a third year running, landing at #34. As a music producer he`s scaled the heights of national charts and with 6 artist albums & compilations released in the last 3 years alone.

The news all Shah fans have been waiting for. The follow up to his 2008 artist album ‘Songbook’ will be touching down on the 29th of July 2011! Roger has revealed that the album will be titled ‘Openminded!?’ and will feature many of Roger’s regular vocal team-ups - Chris Jones, Inger Hansen and Adrina Thorpe among them. In a major branchout though, it will also include some other world-class singer-songwriter talent. Included among them will be Sian Evans from Kosheen, Moya Brennan from Clannad, Carla Werner (the voice behind Oakenfold’s ‘Southern Sun’) Salma Ross (winner of Armada Music’s discover a singer competition) and Maltese sensation Ira Losco.
May 30th will see the release of Roger’s brand new track with singer sensation Moya 'Marie' Brennan. Known to millions as the voice behind Chicane’s anthemic ‘Saltwater’, Roger got in contact with her having been blown away by one of her live classical concerts. The result is 'Morning Star' - an incredible sun-tipped track whose influences come together somewhere between County Donegal and the Balearics. DJ Mag has already called it “a coup” as well as saying that ‘Morning Star’ is both “poignant” and “haunting”. Mixmag meanwhile summed it up as “perfectly grafting the Celtic twang of the uilleann pipes to Shah’s regulation gauzy Med-head synths”. ‘Morning Star’ is out at the end of the month through Magic Island Records.
