RADIO ONE ESSENTIAL MIX - JULY 2012
PAUL OAKENFOLD
It has been 3 long years since Paul Oakenfold last graced our shores for the Future Music Festival back in 2009. In that time Paul has been extremely busy; having partnered his widely respected Perfecto label with Armin Van Buuren’s almighty Armada Music, the label has gone from strength to strength and continues to be at the forefront of electronic music boasting a continuous stream of successful new releases. Paul’s globally syndicated radio show Planet Perfecto is now aired in over 40 countries every week and has quickly amassed a legion of loyal fans worldwide. Paul has also returned to the DJ circuit in a big way with a non stop schedule of over 200 shows in 2012 - with appearances at some of the largest and most respect events and festivals across the world.
His highly acclaimed Four Seasons tour and album concept, which embraces a cutting edge visual show fused with Paul’s Full On Fluoro sound has recaptured the imaginations of fans new and old worldwide.
Paul Oakenfold's story is woven so tightly into the fabric of what we know of today’s 'dance music' that he surely needs no introduction, with the magnitude of his career it's hard to put one of the true legends of electronic music’s history into words. For over 3 decades he has shaped and changed an entire genre of EDM and continues to be the leading force in the global music scene, paving the way all other artists in the genre. Yet he is still pushing boundaries. His most recent works have taken him from the DJ Booth of the world’s hottest clubs and festivals, to the studio to record and remix tracks for some of the biggest recording artists in the world (Madonna, U2). The first global dj to have a residency in Las Vegas – he helped the city go on to win the tag of the 'Ibiza of the USA' and his Perfecto Record label has opened the doors for countless headliners including David Guetta. His artistry and craft has earned him accolades from critics and fans as well as 2 Grammy nominations and the ability to play anywhere in the world, like the Great Wall of China.
In the build up to the release of the Four Seasons 4 x CD album on 2nd November Future Entertainment are pleased to announce five exclusive Australian appearances from Paul Oakenfold as he brings his full Four Seasons audio and visual production down under.

MaRLo
In the past 6 months alone, MaRLo has had a #1 beatport hit with "The Island", remixed Ferry Corsten for the second time, had 5 top 10 tracks, mixed the Ministry of Sound Trance Nation vol 3 compilation for the second year in a row AND launched a monthly radio show. Add some international gigs to that already impressive list and it is clear that there really is no stopping the busy Dutch born, Aussie resident as he makes his way to trance DJ superstardom.
The MaRLo sound is a signature blend of hands in the air moments with tech infused beats, encompassing influences of Trance, Techno, Tech-House and a mish mash of various other chunky sounds. MaRLo is not one to be pigeon holed, and his DJ sets can only be described as the "MaRLo sound". MaRLo's studio trickery has seen him sign productions to trance super-labels such as Armada, Spinnin Records, Blackhole recordings, Flashover and many more.
MaRLo's productions are always diverse, with no track sounding like the last, MaRLo has been able to gain a large and loyal fan base who are always ready to be surprised by his latest release. This diversity was recognised by world famous "Cirque du Soleil" when they asked him to produce and perform his own interpretation of their music at the massive Uitmarkt festival in Amsterdam. MaRLo's productions receive highly coveted respect and recognition, featuring on popular TV shows, reaching high rotation on FM radio stations and scoring Tune of the Month in "Mixmag", "DJ Mag" and "Tillate" for his track "MaRLo feat Kristen Marlo - Is it Real".
MaRLo's latest single "The Island" was an instant hit and shot up to the #1 spot on the Beatport trance charts. The track received support from all the usual heavyweights and also featured an official video clip. Dj Mag have said it has a "crisp, bold production" and that Jano's "duskily appealing vocals" are "simple yet magnificent"
His remix of Ferry Corsten- Brainbox is a dance floor destroyer and was played by Ferry Corsten in every set for over a year. It was such a big hit that Ferry personally asked MaRLo to remix one of his biggest tunes to date "Punk" which peaked at #3 on the beatport charts.
MaRLo tracks frequent the Beatport top 10 and are played by Armin van Buuren, Tiesto, Markus Schulz, Sander van Doorn, Ferry Corsten and many more. Four of MaRLo's productions were played across the ASOT 500 parties around the globe.
BINARY FINARY
Binary Finary, the act responsible for one of the most seminal dance tracks of all time, is back armed with an explosive and very unique new LIVE act and a load of fresh new DJ material. On NYE ‘01-01-10’ the Binary Finary 2010 Live Act was unleashed to a sold out crowd at ID&T’s ‘Ocean of White’ Sensation in Melbourne. The Live debut treated the privileged crowd to a real-time performance of their latest tracks, previews of their forthcoming release, and new twists on classics including their phenomenal No.1 hit ‘1998’.
Binary Finary 2010 Live is performed by Australian based Stuart Matheson with Sasha Vatoff joining him as a DJ/Live Performer, while Matt Laws stays studio bound in Ireland supporting the production and mastering side, and enabling the live show to be packed with fresh material even while touring. They combine creative, technical and musical talents skills and embrace the latest technologies to form a full live show, and using an impressive technical set up not before seen or heard in the trance arena to create a unique mix of old and new material which differ with each performance.
In 2010, Armada Records released a 2010 remix of ‘1998’ with remixes from tyDi, Alex M.O.R.P.H, Dabruck & Klein, Vegas Bay & Kaimo K. Hot on its heels have been new releases 'Freedom Seekers', ‘Carbon Fibre, 'Replode', ‘Isle of Lies’, ‘Flight Of Life’ and their remix of Ernesto Vs Bastians 'Dark Side of the Moon' with more due to be offered throughout 2012 including some interesting collaborations with artists such as Jordan Suckley, Norin & Rad, Daniel Wanrooy, Roggu, Genix, Max Graham, Mike Koglin, Pulse & Sphere, Matthew Nagle, Alpha Duo and Vegas Baby.
Stuart and Sasha have been touring playing a selection of traditional DJ style sets at events such as Future Music Festival, Godskitchen, United Colours of Trance and Cream.
The History – ‘1998’ to 2010: Binary Finary shot to fame after their track ‘1998’, with that killer riff became the first electronic dance trance to enter the UK Top 30. It subsequently climbed to Number 1 and a decade later is still one of the greatest uplifting trance tracks ever to hit dance-floors.Binary Finary took a break in 2000, however three short years later Stuart found him newly inspired by the rise of software synths and reunited with his music partner Matt Laws to undertake a tour of Europe which ended in the release of a digital-only album called “The Lost Tracks”, incorporating just a small selection of songs never before seen or heard. BINARY FINARY has to be seen and heard to be fully appreciated
